BACK
TO BACK!
After
winning his first PFL
Title in 1998 as a Cinderella, Waymon
Gresham came back in 1999 as a clear cut favorite. Exhibiting
offensive skills not seen before in the PFL, Gresham went 13-3,
dominated the entire league, before rolling through the playoffs
with the same type of dominance. Sure the scores were close at
times, but, all the other opponents seemed to be playing catch-up
to Gresham. The icing on the cake occurred prior to the Superbowl,
when just as it seemed as though Gresham was about to be ousted
from the playoffs by Kevin Fox, the defending champ scored on
an unlikely miraculous play with four seconds remaining in the
game, to steal the victory right from under Fox and his Packers.
The
win was a testament to Gresham who perhaps played his best season
ever. It was a season where everything went right for the Broncs.
"The Creator," as he is known in the madden community
shattered and set all types of offensive records in 1999. And
for the coup de Gras, the Bronc's destroyed The Swammi and his
Cowboys in the Superbowl 82-56.
Aside
from the one point where Dallas tied the game at 28, it was never
close again. Gresham went on to return to the St. Louis Rams after
the 1999 season. He would never return to his old PFL dominance.
